How much to order
The rule that works: one litre serves six to eight people as a dessert portion after a meal, and four to five if ice cream is the main event. For a birthday where children are the guests, count on the higher end. Children take less per serving and come back more often.
For a hundred-guest mehndi where dinner is served, twelve to fifteen litres is usually right. Order the extra litre. Nobody has ever complained about leftover ice cream.
Buckets or scoops on site
Buckets work when you have freezer space and someone to serve. They are the cheaper route per head and they let guests come back for more.
Popsicles are the better choice for outdoor events, school functions and anything where people are standing. No bowls, no spoons, no melting into a puddle on a plate.
What travels and what does not
Ice cream survives about twenty to thirty minutes out of a freezer in Pakistani summer heat, less in an un-airconditioned car. Plan the pickup as the last thing you do before the event, not the first.
If the venue is more than half an hour away, ask for extra ice packs, keep the buckets in the cabin rather than the boot, and put them into a freezer the moment you arrive. Ice cream that softens and refreezes turns grainy, and it does not recover.
Book ahead
For anything over five litres, give the branch a day's notice. This is not a formality. It lets them pack your order from fresh stock rather than pulling whatever is left in the display freezer on a busy evening.
For large orders during wedding season, two or three days is safer.
A simple order that works
- Small gathering (10-15): two 1-litre buckets, two flavours
- Birthday (25-30): four to five litres plus a box of popsicles for the children
- Mehndi or large event (100+): twelve to fifteen litres across three flavours, one of them a safe chocolate
- Office event: popsicles. No bowls to arrange, no cleanup
